As part of its commitment to promoting gender equality in the field of technology, the ALDABA-WIB Chair is hosting the “Videos for Equality” award ceremony. Coinciding with the International Girls in ICT Day—commemorated annually on the fourth Thursday of April—the event will take place this Wednesday, April 22, at 12:30 p.m. at Padre Feijoo-Zorelle School, recognizing the talent of the 7th-grade students responsible for the winning video.
Titled “Supertech,” the award-winning video features a female superhero who takes on the mission of putting women with STEM aspirations “on the map.” Through an accessible and engaging narrative, the work seeks to break down stereotypes and encourage young women to pursue careers in technology, highlighting projects that help reduce the gender gap starting in the classroom.
Upcoming Activities for 2026
Following this recognition, the ALDABA-WIB Chair will continue to promote its annual calendar of activities to strengthen the ties between society, the university, and the business sector:
- ALDABA ICT Camp: The camp returns to Ourense this summer to foster an interest in technology from an early age, with 80% of spots reserved for girls.
- 1st ALDABA-WIB TFG Awards: awards aimed at recognizing university projects that offer solutions to reduce the gender gap.
- Update of the BBG-TIC Barometer: renewal of this digital tool with data from the 2025/2026 academic year to analyze the evolution of female representation in ICT studies.
- VisibilizaTIC and Informative Talks: continuation of guidance programs in high school and practical ICT application courses in the business environment.
